Mesaia Trikala
The middle neighbourhood, at 1,050 metres. This is where the village’s main square is, and where most people gather — more than half of Trikala’s places to stay are in this neighbourhood.
What you will see
The Monastery of the Panagia was built in 1700 by the Metropolitan of Corinth Grigorios Notaras — of the family that gave the mountain most of its monuments. It stands on the road that climbs from Mesaia to Ano, so you meet it anyway — no detour needed.
Around the square spread stone houses and most of the village’s shops. It is the most convenient place to stay if you want to get around on foot.
At 1,050 metres, Mesaia is the middle one of the three steps: a hundred and fifty metres above Kato and fifty below Ano.

What is open here
Fifteen places to stay, three places to eat and three for coffee. On the square, “Tzini” is a café-grocery and tsipouro bar in one, with local produce on the shelves.
The grocery “Ta Mystika tis Gis” has traditional products and gifts.
Because everything is gathered around the square, it is convenient to leave the car here and get around on foot — you will take it again for the other two neighbourhoods.
